Address: Marymoor Park, 6046 Lake Sammamish Parkway NE, Redmond. Willowmoor, the country estate of James and Anna Herr Clise, stands at the center of King County’s Marymoor Park, near Redmond. The Craftsman house was originally built as a hunting lodge and later remodeled for use as a permanent family residence. The estate eventually grew to 28 buildings on 440 acres. The boathouses, Dutch windmill, roaming peacocks, barns, and greenhouses became an area attraction. James Clise experimented with innovative agricultural practices and Anna Clise played an active role in civic life, most notably as a founder of Children’s Orthopedic Hospital. Today the house, windmill, and one historic barn remain on the site. The Marymoor Museum of Eastside History was located in the house, until 2002, when King County budget shortfalls resulted in its eviction in favor of more commercial ventures.
